  2. TOAD • Bufo americanus • Found about thirty yards from the bus. • Isn’t it cute?

  3. Deer (White tailed) • Odocoileus virginianus • Found most often • And almost everywhere except next to the creek where people fell in. Not to point anyone out.

  4. Canadian Geese • Branta canadensis • In the water, with the ducks • On that path near the road we found a few feathers as well.

  5. Mallard Duck • Cairina moschata • Next to Canadian geese in the water • Mallard are the most common to this area

  6. Coyote • Canis latrans • Found in the form of scat • Near the lake, in the sand

  7. Frog • Rana pipiens • Found in the sand near the water, by the road, and in the underbrush where its very moist • Also called The Northern Leopard Frog • Tiny!

  8. Lady bug • Harmonia axydris • Found near the water, crawling on a rock

  9. Water strider • Heteroptera gerridae • Found striding and jumping across the creek water, about 20 yards from outlet

  10. Red Earwig • Labidura riparia • Found on my shoe after slipping into a bush • About twenty yards from creek ^ Wouldn’t you love to wake up with a million of them on your face?

  11. Slug • Arion vulgaris • Found in a quantity of about 13 on a log, thirty yards from creek

  12. Black bear • Ursus americanus • Found in the form of scat, 50 yards from bus, in a clearing

  13. Fly • Diptera • Found everywhere along trail, but mostly around scat

  14. Turkey • Meleagris gallapavo • Found in the form of a feather • 20 yards from road

  15. Owl • Bubo virginianus • Found in the form of scat • 40 yards from road

  16. Mosquito • Anopheles quadrimaculatus • Found around puddles by creek • Probably because they breed in still water

  17. Gambel’s Quail • Callipepla gambelii • Found in feather form • 37 yards from road

  18. Bee • Apis mellifera • Found circling Dalmation Toadflax

  19. Black gnat (Mayfly) • Leptophlebia cupida • Found everywhere there’s plants

  20. Hobo spider • Tegenaria agrestis • Found in a web spun fifteen yards from game camera

  21. Fire ant • Solenopsis invicta Buren • Found on path ten yards from road
