www.nwleics.gov.uk

What did the election feel like?

  • A bit of a musical performance

  • Composers – Home Office and Electoral Commission

  • Performing singers and promoters – PAROS as the only act on the bill

  • Support bands/orchestras - LROs

Composers

  • Composing something quite different to before

  • Have changed the date of the event

  • Given some outline of the “musical score” without the full detail

  • Expect the final performance to be perfect

  • Will take legal action if it is not

PARO role

  • To understand and “guess” what the musical score is rather than wait.

  • To treat all LROs and election staff as equals

  • First meeting 14th February 2012

“One Team”

  • Meet regularly

  • Joint decisions – one team

  • Signed undertaking to mitigate risks

  • Bespoke joint training sessions

  • Regular dialogue and discussion

  • Joint protocols

  • Shared time to think and prepare
