The Basics • Who: All students are invited to attend. • What: Pridefest 5.0 will be a casual event that replaces Winterfest. • Where: It will be held in the main gym and auxiliary gym • When: March 21st, 2014 from 3pm-10pm. • The assembly/court will still be held during the school day and will focus on building excitement for Pridefest 5.0.

  5. Why Is It Called Pridefest 5.0? • The upgraded event has five dimensions (that all happen to start with P) • The week of Pridefest 5.0, there is a spirit week. Each day relates one of the five dimensions.

  6. The five dimensions Get pumped, perform, play, push yourself, and pull for your class!

  7. Get Pumped! It’s going to be a high energy, all inclusive, fun-filled extravaganza of talent, spirit and music! Monday: Pride Wear

  8. Perform! The agenda will include tons of Leesville talent: dance, vocalists, bands, athletics, clubs! Tuesday: Be a famous performer

  9. Play! Students can play in the three-on-three basketball tournament, tug-o-war, and all the fun activities planned by clubs and class councils. Wednesday: Wear sports gear

  10. Push yourself! 50 students from each class will attend Pridefest 5.0 as “contenders.” Contenders will: • obtain at least $50.00 in pledges for the Murphy Scholarship. • remain on their feet for 8 hours, from 3 – 11 pm • sit together at the assembly. • have access to complimentary food / snacks/beverages at the event. Thursday: Wear your goals/dreams

  11. Pull for your class! • Friday: Students wear a specific color to represent their class at the assembly and event. . • There will be a tug of war between classes. • All individual participants and winners will earn points for their class. • The class with the most points by night’s end will be the Pridefest 5.0 champs. • The winning class will win the school’s spirit stick and be in possession of it for a week before it is placed in the trophy case for all to see. Friday: Wear your class color

  12. Sample agenda Here is what the extravaganza entails.

  13. 3 – 4 p.m.: pridefest acts, Take 2 • Talented individuals and groups will perform here in a warm-up concert. Where: Main Gym

  14. 4 – 5 P.m.: Looniegetdown breakdown • Dance Ensemble comes and teaches everyone a huge group dance. Pride TV films the performance and it is used at freshman orientation to get kids pumped about high school. Where: Main Gym

  15. 5:00 - 7 P.m.: club set, basketball, tug-o-war • Each club puts forth a song and students try and guess which club goes with what song. • The classes have a tug of war competition with pre-selected 8 person teams. Where: Main Gym Three on three games, max. 4 on a team. Two games simultaneously at each end . There’s a women’s league and a co-ed/male league. Teams can mix 9th , 10th, 11th and 12th graders. Where: Auxillary Gym

  16. 7-8 P.m.: Mr. Leesville Competition Students compete for the ultimate distinction: to be known as “Mr. Leesville”. • Get ready for the spontaneous interviews, dapper casual and formal wear segments, and unpredictable talent! Where: Main Gym

  17. 8 – 10 P.m.: class is in session • Each class council will plan activities and music for different sessions throughout the night: • Sample activities: a choreographed group dance, glow stick / beach ball fun, talented members of the class have a “dance off”, etc. • A member of their class will be the “master of ceremonies” during that time. Where: Main Gym

  19. Student and faculty involvement Team work makes the dream work.

  20. How can faculty get involved? • You can captain an aspect of the event. • You can sign up in the shared directory to help a captain. • You can make sure Pride TV segments get broadcast in your room. • You can write Pridefest 5.0 on your board and count down the days (1/8/14: 50). • You can participate in spirit week. • You can challenge a student to be a contender.

  21. How Can coaches get involved? • This is an awesome team-bonding event! • Reserve a team tent space on the periphery of the event floor. • Sponsor at least one contender from your team. • Encourage team members to participate in the tug of war team for their class.

  22. How can students get involved? • Be a contender. • Audition for assembly, stage and dinner performance slots. • Participate in class council planning. • Sign up for the 3 on 3 b-ball bracket. • Sign up for tug of war through your class council. • Participate in spirit week. • Attend the event.

  23. How will class councils be involved? • They will pick their class colors. Seniors pick first, then Juniors and Sophomores, and finally Freshmen. • They might choose to design / sell a shirt. • They will select a tug of war team. • They will plan music / activities for their class sessions. Again, Seniors pick first, then Juniors and Sophomores, and finally Freshmen.

  24. How can CLUBS get involved? • Select a song that represents them that will be played during the “Club Set.” • Set a goal for the number of contenders they will sponsor. • Reserve a club tent space on the periphery of the event floor.
