  2. Player User Interface & GSA Technologies • The OAC has identified two fundamental requirements for the player user interface: • It needs to grab the player’s attention. • It needs to provide access to third-party applications. • GSA technologies address these requirements in two key areas: • Media display windows. • Custom printing. • This presentation examines these technologies and their capabilities.

  3. Media Display Windows • Media display windows are pop-up windows that can appear on the main screen or secondary screens of an EGM. • Often referred to as picture-in-picture. • Third-party applications written using industry standards, such as HTML and Flash, can be run in the windows. • The windows can communicate directly with the EGM. • The windows can communicate with third-party applications.

  4. Custom Printing • Custom printing allows a voucher printer to be used to print other types of materials, such as coupons and promotional offers. • Third-party systems candirect print requests to an EGM. • Site-specific templates can be downloaded to the printer to create unique printed materials.

  6. Media Display Window • The configuration of the EGM describes the window: • Screen. • Position. • Size. • Content types. • Priority. • An EGM can have multiple windows, each controlled by a separate host system. Media Display Window

  7. Media Display Window • The host system communicates to the EGM via the G2S protocol: • Load content. • Display window. • Hide window. • Release content. Media Display Window EGM Control Host G2S

  8. Media Display Window • The EGM loads content from the location specified by the host. • Content can be pre-loaded for fast transitions between different content. Media Display Window Content EGM Control Host G2S

  9. Media Display Window • The content running in the window can communicate directly to the EGM via the Media Display Interface. • The content can react to events as they happen on the EGM. • The content can also request that the EGM take certain actions. 10. Media Display Window • The content can communicate directly to 3rd party application systems: • Promotions. • Hotel. • Restaurant. • Sports book. • Tournaments. 3rd Party Media Display Window Content MDI EGM Control Host G2S

  11. Media Display Window Other • 3rd party application systems, host systems, content servers, and other types of systems can communicate amongst one another using the S2S protocol. 3rd Party Media Display Window S2S Content MDI EGM Control Host G2S

  12. Custom Printing

  13. Custom Printing • Regions are used to describe specific printable areas on a ticket including: • Position. • Rotation. • Font. • A regions can contain: • Text. • Barcodes. • Graphics. • Templates are made up of a group of regions. Region 101 Region 105 Region 103 Region 106 Region 104 Region 102

  14. Custom Printing • The G2S protocol supports 1000 regions and 1000 templates. • However, a printer may not have sufficient memory to store all 1000 regions and templates – especially, if graphic are used. • Regions 0-99 and templates 0-99 are reserved for common pre-defined regions and templates. These are “burned into” the printers. • Templates 0-11 are currently used for cash-out tickets. • Other regions and templates are available for other site-specific purposes – custom printing.

  17. Custom Printing • The G2S protocol is used by a host system to send site-specific configuration information and print requests to an EGM. • The GDS protocol is used by the EGM to forward the configuration information and print requests to the printer. Printer GDS EGM Control Host G2S

  18. Player User Interface & GSA Technologies • GSA technologies provide the foundation for the player user interface: • Media Display Windows. • Media display windows grab the player’s attention by placing a window on the main screen where the player’s attention is focused. • Media display windows allow the player to interact with third-party applications. • Custom Printing. • Custom printed materials grab the player’s attention by putting critical information in the player’s hand. • Custom printing technologies provide access to the EGM’s printer for third-party applications.
