4. Reflection • This piece is special because it is based on my favorite things in life. • I chose it because I liked how it explain the good things in life. • I was inspired by my life to write it. • This enhances my project because it is a personal poem.

5. Freedom Writers 3 • Ben is the only white kid in the whole class and was very nervous around his class. Ben never participated before in his class because he was afraid of his classmates would beat him. His internal structures are that he can’t relate to any of his classmates and realized everyone in his class didn’t like white people. His external struggles are he is the only white kid in the class and lives in a community where there is a shot on the block everyday.

Reflection • This piece is special because it pokes at a problem that has been around America for along time. • I chose it because a piece like this is obligated to be known by everyone • I was inspired by Freedom Writers to write it. • This enhances my project because it adds a serious note to my portfolio.

7. Me Poem I am a baseball player who hits homeruns I wonder how many I can hit in one game I hear the crowd go crazy when I hit the ball I see the ball go over the wall I want to hit another home run I am a baseball player who hits homeruns I pretend the ball goes to the clouds I feel the wind hit my face when I run I touch the coach’s hand when I run the bases I worry that the ball would not go over the fence I cry when I see my team come to pick me up I am a baseball player who hits homeruns I understand that I won the game for my team I say nothing but Thank you lord I dream one day this will happen again I try not wondering how the other team feels I hope this experience will happen again I am a baseball player who hits homeruns

8. Reflection • This piece is special because I tell what I am feeling when I play baseball. • I chose it because it is descriptive and creative. • I was inspired to write this poem by my baseball coach. • This enhances my project because it gives a touch of my favorite sport in a poem.

9. Narrative Piece “Billy, stop, get away from the ledge!” said Jaap. Billy was on the edge of the mountain and started singing with his eyes shut. “Get down from there, what are you thinking?” “I’m just singing leave me alone,” said Billy. It was morning; Jaap just woke up from his dream. He couldn’t forget that horrid day when that accident happened.

11. Journal Prompt 1 A struggle that I have face is agreeing with my parents. My parents and I have gotten into arguments about various things like school and my siblings. When my parents and I fight I always say that my way is better and that they should just let me do what I want. I know that the arguing with my parents is just to help me, but the bickering can never stop. If a friend had the same struggle, the advice I would give to them is to act calm and respect what their parents have to say. Also, if your parents say no to your suggestion then don’t argue against something you can’t win.

Reflection • This piece is special because it is somewhat of a family struggle that everyone has. • I chose it because I think it’s a serious problem with families. • I was inspired by my counselor to write it. • This enhances my project because it will help families with their communication problems.

13. Reviewing If you noticed that you do not have much money in your pocket, don’t worry anymore. Five gum is only $1.49 and saves you a lot of money. After meals five gum cleanses your mouth like purity water. Other gums like Orbit don’t have the amazing feeling in your mouth when you chew it. So if you ever wanted to try gum that is easy to the mouth and good to the soul, then chew five gum.

Reflection • This piece is special because it is informational and knowledgeable about a specific topic. • I chose it because it informs and teaches. • I was inspired by the great taste and quality of the gum to review it. • This enhances my project because it is informational and is a good touch to my presentation.

15. Trackstar 4 An Activist I would invite to my school would be Martin Luther King Jr. because he died for what he believes in. My classmates would learn from him that they should stick up for what is right and not be afraid to say what you want.
