  2. Atakapans food They fished for oysters, shrimp, and crab. They also hunted deer, buffalo, and alligators.

  3. Where the Atakapans Lived They lived mostly in the southeast. Other known as the Coastal Plains.

  4. Atakapan’s Weapons Most hunters use bows and arrows. The ones who fished mostly used nets, traps, and hooks made of bones.

  5. Atakapan Tribe They were split up into what they ate or hunted. One was the one that gathered plants, one was the people who hunted and the other was the one that fished.

  6. Extra information Atakapan Indian men were hunters and sometimes went to war to protect their families. Atakapan women gathered plants, made clothing, and did most of the child care and cooking. Both genders took part in storytelling, artwork and music, ceremonial dances, and traditional medicine. Only men usually became Atakapan chiefs.
