  1. Carers Issues L.D Partnership Board 6th July 2015

  2. L D Partnership Board6th July 2015 Brief update on last two months • Funding application to allow us to continue to exist - no news... (No funds left) • Work-plan priority 1 – preparation of a training session about carers and their role and issues – now almost ready to deliver • Comments on new Person-led assessment form (and why it is unfit for purpose) submitted to Dianne Green.

  3. L.D Partnership Board 6th July 2015 Local Service issues - Council • Long delays in getting Blue Badges • Carers assessment form – nowhere to ask if carer has a disability themselves • Severe staffing shortage in social work team – real concern about severe delays / denials of service if vacancies are not filled urgently

  4. Local Service issues – Health Discrepancy between North Kirklees provision and South Kirklees provision still unchanged and no clear way forward identified On a more detailed level, generic medicines being prescribed rather than brands that the person concerned recognises and trusts L.D Partnership Board 6th July 2015

  5. L.D Partnership Board6th July 2015 The national situation – the big cuts begin • National figures on how many Personal Independence Payment assessments are not allowed are of concern – only 52% of new claims were granted, and only 77% of those being reassessed. (October 2013 – March 2015). • George Osborne expected to announce major reductions in some benefits on Wednesday

  6. LD Partnership Board6th July 2015 • Major challenge to this Board To find ways of collecting information about how the local and national budget cuts impact on people with learning disabilities and their carers....and to find ways of telling the stories to politicians and others with power to make a difference
