  2. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 13 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails…. 13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Lessons about Responsibility of Love • Our responsibility of loving other humans is not contingent upon their perfection or worthiness • Love commanded to family & brethren – to enemies also • Must love based on principle of what is right • If love is of God, what does its absence say about one? • Love required towards others will demand difficult things • Though our love may be abused, it provides a better basis for our lives than hatred, bitterness, indifference… • Love is not based on feeling or reaction, but a decision • Our responsibility of loving God should be natural given His absolute perfection & worthiness • Acceptable love must be of free-will, not coercion
