  3. Preaching and difficulties • Began preaching secretly • First among his intimate (close) friends, then members of his tribe • Thereafter publicly in the city & its suburbs (residential area bordering city)

  4. Main articles of Dawah • Towheed • Risalat • Akhirat

  5. Difficulties • Number of his adherents increased gradually • Opposition also grew intense • Physical torture • Threw on heated sand and kept there for hours • Imprisoned with chains on their feet • Some of them died of torture

  6. Migration to Abyssinia • Prophet advised to quit their native town and take refuge abroad • Dozens of Muslims profited by this advice

  7. Boycott • No body was to talk them or have commercial or matrimonial (related to marriage) relations • This resulted in stark (complete) misery among the innocent children men and women ,old sick and feeble (physically or mentally weak) • Continued for full three years • Four or five non Muslim proclaimed publicly their denunciation (public condemnation) • The proclamation, hung in kaaba, was found eaten by white ants

Death of his wife Khadeeja & uncle Abu talib • Taaif • Ascension (miraaj) • Annual pilgrimage of kaaba brought to Maka people from all parts of Arabia • Group of people from Yathrib accepted Islam • Requested him to provide them with a missionary teacher • Hazrat Musab • Next year 73 new revert to Islam • Invitation to migrate

  9. 622 AD Hijrah • Abyssinia was too far away • Yathrib near to Makkah • Muslims Migrated • Holy Prophet (SAW) migrated • Muslims Calendar Begins

Makkah Period • No apparatus (system) of Administration • No attempt to acquire that apparatus • Personal reform • Individual Moral deeds, character • Inculcate (impress on somebody's mind) the unity of Allah • The greatness and love of Allah • Companions of Prophet became model of self-sacrifice, stoicism (admirable patience), generosity, compassion, heroism and good behavior.

The Prophet (SAW) in Madina • Muhajirin/ The emigrants • Ansar/ the helpers • Friendship • Brotherhood and treaty of Madina • Problem of rehabilitation of displaced persons was solved satisfactorily • Aws and Khazraj converted to Islam • Proclamation period divided into two parts • Makkah Period----13 years • Madina Period-----10 Years

  12. Al Madina Period • Pure Islamic State • Remarkable results • Madina became Heaven • Success depends upon two things • The greatness of Allah’s message • The loftiness (high) of the prophet’s character • The first Islamic state

Messaq-i-Madina After the Hijrah Muslims faced major problems • External Danger---Attack by Quraish of Makkah • Internal danger--- conspiracy of the Jews against Muslims • Jews tried to create conflict between Ansar and emigrants • Invited the representative of Muslims and non-Muslims • Defined the duties and rights of citizen • Document known as Messaq-e-Madina/ Charter of Madina

Clauses of Charter • The Muslims and Jews become friends • In case of war ---help each other • No protection to the Quraish of Makkah • All minorities have complete religious freedom • The old customs of ransom (money demanded for releasing captive), and blood money for killing will remain intact • In case of attack of enemy---both will defend and in peace the consent (permission) of both will be required. • Blood shedding will be unlawful • Both will be responsible to help the oppressed • Last but not the least (importantly)---the holy Prophet SAW will be acknowledged as the sole arbitrator (judge) in case of any dispute or difference among the parties.
