  2. 圣地亚哥·卡拉特拉瓦(Santiago Calatrava) 世界上最著名的创新建筑师之一,也是备受争议的建筑师。由于 Calatrava 拥有建筑师和工程师的双重身份,他对结构和建筑美学之间的互动有着准绳的掌握。他认为美态能够由力学的工程设计表达出来,而大自然之中,林木虫鸟的形态美观,同时亦有着惊人的力学效率。所以,他常常以大自然作为他设计时启发灵感的泉源。 卡拉特拉瓦出生在西班牙巴伦西亚附近的Benimamet,在巴伦西亚修完建筑与城市设计专业以后,于1979年获得了瑞士苏黎世联邦工学院的结构工程博士学位,随后留校任教,并开始参加建筑设计竞赛。他的设计展现出技术理性所能呈现的逻辑的美,而又仿佛超越了地心引力和结构法则的束缚。有的时候,难免会让人想起外星来客,极其突兀的技术美似乎全然出乎地球人的常规预料。这当然是得益于他在结构工程专业上的特长。
