Strategies suggested by Dr. Carson • Increase your exposure to creative work. • Avoid premature evaluation of ideas. • Provide time and opportunity for solitude. • Spend time in places of natural beauty. • Keep a list of things that bother you (journal writing) When something goes wrong, brainstorm possible causes.

  3. Think about what slows you down. • Pay attention to your negative emotions. • Scan your environment regularly for things that could be changed and improved. • Make a creativity playlist of music that inspires you and allows your mind to wander. • Take a walk (avoid vans careening out of control)

  4. Spend time in natural light • Carry a notepad (journal) or digital recorder.

  5. HOW TO SHAPE & SUPPORT CREATIVE ENVIRONMENTS: 1) Take risks. Have the courage to try and fail. 2) Practice blockbusting ideas that deviate from the norm. 3) Cultivate keen observation of and attraction to novelty and uncertainty. 4) Seek access to knowledge sources 5) Realize that creativity involves innovation; find joy in the process instead of heading for the end result. 6) Welcome/invite new ways of doing things7) Stress free FLOW of information .8) Welcome collaboration and innovation.9) Congregate with other creative people. 10) Change where you write if blocked – Starbucks?
