  2. About the German Shepherd • The German shepherd is a breed of large-sized working dog that originated in Germany. The breeds officially recognized name is the German shepherd dog. In the English language, sometimes abbreviated as GSD.

Facts about the German shepherd • Their life span is 9-13 years. • The adult male can grow up to 60-65cm at shoulders height. • The adult female can grow up to 55-60cm at shoulder height. • The adult female can grow to weigh 22-32kgs. • The adult male can grow to weigh 30-40kgs. • The German shepherd is called Alsatian wolf dog. • Watchful, alert, curious, obedient, loyal, confident and intelligent makes them a great K-9 unit.

  4. How do German shepherds help? • Germanshepherds are working dogs developed for originally herding sheep. Since that time, however, because of their strength, intelligence, trainability and obedience, German shepherds are good at these jobs: search-and-recuse, police and military roles. The K-9 unit is a police/German shepherd unit.
