  1. CCMP Preface Essay

  2. Getting Started • Please take out a sheet of paper and make a list of all the jobs or careers you’ve ever thought about doing. • Don’t censor yourself. Even if it seems like a silly idea now, go ahead and list the job. (When I was a kid, I wanted to be a cowboy, a fireman, G.I. Joe, Batman, and a host of other things.) • List at least ten possible jobs or careers.

  3. Think about your more immediate career plans. • List your future goals. • Include school-related goals as well as career objectives. • Again, don’t censor yourself. What do you really want to do (both this year and over the next 5-10 years)?

  4. Talk to Your Classmates • With a partner, share your life goals. • What kind of lifestyle would you like to have (salary, home, car, family, vacations, etc.)? • What sorts of things do you think you’ll need to do to achieve your life’s goals? • Share your ideas with at least two other students.

  5. Now let’s put these ideas on paper. • Paragraph 1 = Discuss your career plans for the next 5-10 years. • Paragraph 2 = Discuss the lifestyle and experiences you want for your future (be realistic). • Paragraph 3 = Identify the education/training/ work experience you’ll need to achieve your goals.

  6. Due date for this assignment: • Tuesday, September 24, 2013 • Your final draft must be typed and double spaced with one-inch margins. • Use 12pt Times New Roman as your font. • No extra spaces between paragraphs. • Your header should include: Your Name Mr. Patterson English 7/8: ? Period 24 September 2013

  7. The rough draft: • Your must finish your rough draft before you leave class today. • When you have finished your rough draft, bring it to Mr. Patterson for him to approve. • If Mr. Patterson does not approve your rough draft, you will forfeit the points for this portion of the assignment. • This assignment is worth 50 writing points (Final Draft = 30pts., Rough Draft = 20pts.)

  8. Things to include in essay: • Paragraph 1 = Discuss your career plans for the next 5-10 years. • Paragraph 2 = Discuss the lifestyle and experiences you want for your life (be realistic). • Paragraph 3 = Identify the education/training/ work experience you’ll need to achieve your goals.
