IARP unites rehabilitation professionals across North America and beyond to promote the availability of effective, multidisciplinary services for persons with disabilities. “Outstanding networking opportunities and educational tune-ups continue to this day”

  3. IARP • Uniting Rehabilitation Professionals in their Quest for Education, Professional Growth and Opportunities • IARP is dedicated to: promoting effective multidisciplinary rehabilitation, disability management, and return-to-work services on behalf of persons with disabilities and the economically disadvantaged; enhancing the competency of service providers; supporting innovation in related business development and management; and becoming the pre-eminent source for shaping public policy that affects rehabilitation.

  9. FORENSIC SECTION Consists of practitioners who primarily perform litigation support services associated with personal injury/civil litigation, employment law, worker’s compensation, family law, Social Security disability determinations, etc… Practitioners perform vocational evaluations to assess earning potential and loss of earning capacity, and/or prepare life care plans to evaluate the ongoing medical and rehabilitation needs of persons sustaining catastrophic injuries or where such needs exist due to the presence of a disability.

  10. DISABILITY MANAGEMENT SECTION The Disability Management Section was initiated to assist individuals with responsibilities to develop return to work programs, design medical care contingency systems, develop statistical tracking programs and all things related to the development, implementation, oversight and marketing of DM Programs, and to address issues pertinent to the work of rehabilitation counselors in a job placement setting. Membership in this section affords access to individuals with immediate or ongoing knowledge to assist in improving our professionalism.

  11. CASE MANAGEMENT SECTION Focus on providing medical case management to specific populations who need coordination of their care. Many case managers work with insurance carriers and employers’ workers compensation cases. Other groups who benefit from case management services are the elderly and those with catastrophic injuries such as head trauma, spinal cord injuries, burns, and amputations or any other person with a disability who requires assistance in coordinating their care needs.

  12. INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF LIFE CARE PLANNERS SECTION Life Care Planning is an advanced practice which is collaborative in nature and includes the patient, family, care providers and all parties concerned in coordinating, accessing, evaluating and monitoring necessary services. The IALCP Section believes professionals who develop life care plans must have a foundation of knowledge and practice, have an appropriate experience base, conduct an active practice which demonstrates application of the appropriate professional processes, perform specific methodologies demonstrating advanced practice, participate in professional organizations, and participate in community and national organizations.

  21. IARP MILESTONES • Founders of IARP/NARPPS defeat 1975 legislation that would have created a government monopoly for the delivery of vocational rehabilitation services by the California Department of Rehabilitation. • IARP/NARPPS incorporates in 1981 as a US National 501(c)6 nonprofit corporation • IARP/NARPPS professional peer review process based on formal standards and ethics criteria is endorsed at the first annual NARPPS conference • Association To Association (ATA) Network evolves from alliances among professional rehabilitation organizations. • IARP/NARPPS engages in a four year legislative effort to remove the monopoly enjoyed by public state vocational rehabilitation agencies in the provision of services to Social Security Disability beneficiaries. • NARPPS changes its name in 2000 to the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). The new name positions IARP to become the pre-eminent interdisciplinary organization representing rehabilitation professionals worldwide.
