  1. Everything You Need To Know About American Business Visa The United States is one of the top business hotspots in the world. Overall, the US ranks 6th globally in the ‘ease of doing business’ according to the World Bank. Apart from traveling, working or studying, it is also one of the most lucrative destinations to conduct business. If you are a business enthusiast, eager to set shop in the US, then you should get more information about the B1 visa and its application process. In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about obtaining your American business visa. B1 Visa Let us first understand what a B1 visa is. It is one of the several visas related to immigration issued by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (or the USCIS). It is specifically meant for business visitors who come to the US. Not all travelers who enter the US are considered business visitors. They have to fulfill certain criteria, as defined by the USCIS, to be tagged as business visitors. As per the definition, a business visitor is one who will participate in business or commercial ventures in the US. The business visitors include individuals who are looking to make an investment, consulting their business associates, attending business events and conferences or negotiating contracts within the United States. Eligibility Norms To get a B1 American business visa, you need to follow particular guidelines and satisfy the

  2. eligibility conditions. As a business visa applicant, you should be able to demonstrate that: Your principal objective for the visit must be to do lawful business in the USA. You intend to stay only for a specific period and not seek permanent residency. You possess adequate funds to cover your business, travel and accommodation expenses while in the US. You don’t wish to abandon your residence outside the US, nor sever any ties with your home country. No restriction has been imposed on you from entering the US. Once the authorities know that you fulfill these criteria, they will ask you to submit an application form and appear for an interview. How to Apply? After you’ve identified your relevant visa category and checked your eligibility criteria, you can then apply for the B1 visa. Temporary travelers to the US – whether touring or on business – are given a US visitor visa. To secure one, you must fill the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application or Form DS-160. This form replaces all the other ones – including DS-3032, DS-158, DS-156, and DS-157 – previously required to receive a US visitor visa. The steps to get the visa for doing business in the USA are as follows:  Fill the Form DS-160 This form is filled and submitted online. You can get access to the form from the Consular Electronic Application Center website. You must keep all the documents and information handy while filling up the form. These include scanned copies of travel itinerary, passport, invitation documents, business registration, and the dates of your last five visits to the United States.

  3. You must fill in all the answers, as mentioned, in the form. If you come across any constraints, you can consult a business visa lawyer in the US.  Visa Fees Every applicant should pay the visa fee either through online banking or credit card. You may have to pay some additional charges, depending on the country of residence. Interview All applicants between the age group of 14 to 79 years are required to visit the embassy for an interview. After you’ve completed the application process, you must call the US embassy and schedule for one. The embassy will respond with a confirmation email or letter containing the date and time of the interview.  Documents You are required to show the necessary documents at the time of the interview to support your online application. Make sure you arrange for the below documents: Printout of the Form DS-160 along with the confirmation page and bar code Valid passport Your current social media accounts Confirmation letter for the interview Your photos that comply with the US visa guidelines Bank statement A letter describing your purpose for visiting the US Background checks or criminal records Documents that establish your ties with your home country Documents that describe your earlier visits to the US Letter from the employer detailing your visit Previous three months payslips, if employed

  4. Finally, on the scheduled day, go to the US embassy carrying all your documents. It is advisable to arrive early for the interview. Simply follow this process, and you’ll obtain your business visa without any hassle.
