  2. There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie • Author – Alison Jackson • This little old lady looks sweet and harmless, but neither turkey nor cake is safe from her ravenous feeding frenzy! Youngsters are sure to chime in as you read aloud this delightful Thanksgiving Day tale.

  4. Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice • Author – Steve Metzger • Join in the frolicking fun as five little penguins enjoy their day slipping and sliding on the ice.

  5. The Mitten • Author – Jan Brett • Nicki takes his new snow-white mittens with him outside. After he unknowingly drops one of them, several critters find shelter in it. The border illustrations throughout the delightful tale provide clues to the story as it unfolds.

  6. Mushroom in the Rain • Author – Mirra Ginsburg • A rain-soaked ant takes refuge under a mushroom, which expands to shelter several of his waterlogged friends.

  7. The Caterpillar and the Polliwog • Author – Jack Kent • Impressed by the proud caterpillar's boast that she will turn into a butterfly when she grows up, a polliwog determines to watch the caterpillar very carefully and turn into a butterfly too.
