  1. Incomplete Grades: Instructions and Best Practices For more information please view: http://www.oakland.edu/registrar/resources

  2. Students who have been assigned Incomplete grades are re-displayed for further review. April 26, 2014 April 26, 2015 Joshua S. Steve S. Tricia W.

  3. OU policy assigns a default grade (0.0) which the student will receive if the Incomplete is not resolved by the Extension Date. It is in the best interest of the student to change this grade now to reflect what the student would earn if they do not complete any further work. April 26, 2014 April 26, 2015 Joshua S. Steve S. Tricia W.

  4. At this time you may also shorten the Extension Date (the date the grade will roll). The default (and max) is one year. Students should submit latest work in advance of this date so you may assign the correct grade before the grade is rolled to history. April 26, 2014 April 26, 2015 Joshua S. Steve S. Tricia W.

  5. Examples April 26, 2014 April 26, 2015 Joshua S. Steve S. Tricia W.

  6. Once grades for the current semester are rolled to history (April 29th for this Winter) no more changes may be made to the Incomplete Final Grade. From this point a grade change form must be submitted (at this link here). Joshua S. Steve S. Tricia W.

  7. Remember that Joshua’s extension date was June 30, 2014. If no grade change is submitted by the professor before then, the grade will convert to the previously assigned Incomplete Final Grade. If this occurs but the student should have a different grade, a grade change form for numeric grade to numeric grade must be submitted. Joshua S. Steve S. Tricia W.

  8. Recap: • The Incomplete Final Grade is what the student should earn if no further work is submitted. • The default for the Incomplete Final Grade is 0.0. • Once grades have rolled for the current semester, a grade change form (here) must be submitted. • The Extension Date is the date that the “I” grade will roll to the assigned Incomplete Final Grade. • You may shorten the Extension Date (default is one year, we recommend leaving at default). • If the student’s grade changes from what the initial Incomplete Final Grade was, a grade change form (here) should be submitted. We request that this be submitted no less than 48 hours before the extension date. The closer to the date, the greater the chance the student will see the initial Incomplete Final Grade that was assigned. If this happens, as long as the grade change form has been submitted, we will change the grade to the correct grade as processing allows.
