  1. Management - Instrument, ICC - Otto H. Bauer MPE Garching Management

  2. Important Events • Quarterly Progress Meeting, 15/17 July 03, Cannes • Decision to provide ILT EGSE for warm functional test of FPU delays delivery to Project: • AVM/CQM now mid May 04 • FM now end June 05 • HP-PI-PM Meeting, 22 Oct 03, ESTEC • ILT period of 6 months no longer at risk • Solve instrument problems first Management

  3. Critical Areas • Management • Liaison Project/Alcatel/Astrium/Instrument Teams still with a lot of friction  Quarterly PI-PM meetings with Project  Monthly telecons in between PACS Interface Meetings • Traceability of CR´s and RFW´s (RFD´s ?) still problematic  Alcatel will install accessible data base Management

  4. Critical Areas (II) • Spacecraft Interfaces still not frozen • Thermal Models (orbit, EQM IMT, FM IMT) not stable yet • Influence of straylight in EQM cryostat on IMT conditions • Straylight Model (PACS comments not taken into account)  Very risky situation, as AVM/CQM is nearly ready for ILT • SVM (also PACS input still not complete) Management

  5. Critical Areas (III) • PACS • Monthly reporting still to be improved  More “Team Spirit” necessary ! • PA/QA activities not satisfactory • FMECA, HSIA, .. (contractual or funding reasons) • Incoming inspection: Mirrors, Chopper  Improve procedure • Documentation • Science Requirements, Instrument Requirements, Instrument Description  Minor updates for AVM/CQM EIDP • FMECA, ...  Major updates when reports are available (WE QM´s and FM) • AIV, Test Plan  Updates foreseen for mid Jan 04, we started with lower level doc´s: PCD, ... Management

  6. Critical Items • PACS DPU (IFSI) • 1553/1355 problems still not solved  At present we have no working warm electronics • FPU Grating Launch Lock: Possible single point failure for Spectrometer part • PhFPU Cooler: Evaporator L0 interface: Possible single point failure for Bolometer part Management

  7. Funding • MPE • Funding gap 2.8 M€ , ESA covers 2.0 M€, 0.8 M€ still open, DLR/ESA have to find solution before end of 2003 • IFSI • No funding received since 2001, personnel secure until end Dec, no travel money left • Funding for QM and FM manufacture not approved yet  DPU FM delivery to MPE: Oct 04  Now end Nov 04 • IAC • Funding for QM and FM manufacture not fully approved yet  SPU FM delivery to MPE: June 2004 or later • UVIE • Funding problem solved, but not much travel money Management

  8. Personnel • Instrument • CEA: O. Boulade started working on Bolometer data • MPIA: K. Eberle left, she was working on Ge:Ga detector data • KUL: P. Royer is overseeing the CRE/FEE activities at IMEC and the integration of FEE´s at ASTEQ. He is also managing the interfaces with ASTEQ • ICC • MPIA: R.Vavrek will leave spring 04  PACS calibration scientist at HSC • MPIA: J. Schreiber will start 01 Jan 04 • IAC: S. Grothe started beginning of July, she will be member of the Calibration and IA WG • KUL: J. Vanautgaerden is replacing P. Royer • OT/OP: G. Rodighiero is replacing P. Panuzzo ( SPIRE) Management
