G4G : an INTERREG Ivc Project • The INTERREG IVC Program is part of the European Territorial Cooperation Objective of the Structural Fund policies for the period 2007-2013. • It is a EU program that helps regions of Europe work together to share their knowledge and experience. • Launched in 2007, the programme will run until 2013. “Helping regions to share solutions”

Brief history of Gender4Growth • The project G4G has been developed as an answer to two necessities. • The difficulty to reach Lisbon Agenda goals on time by 2010, • The charter on Local Life (CEMR, 2006), signed by several partners now. • With Gender4Growth, partners intend to update their frameworks of economic policies, facilitating professional contribution of women to the economy. • In some words “strengtheneconomy with gender issue”

  5. The project objectives Main objective: • Reinforce awareness of gender in relation to regional policies of economic development. Sub-objectives : • Technical analysis of regional policies, transfer of practices; • Increased involvement of politicians, institutions, and social and economic partners (from the local to European level)‏.

Women and economy: good practices • Collection and evaluation of practices in partner regions on four thematic areas: • Employment • Access to work • Entrepreneurship • Women participation The methodological approach for collecting practices has been deployed with three tools, which aim at giving a preliminary quantitative and qualitative assessment of the existing practices/policies

  7. Practices / policies survey Focus groups Qualitative interviews The three tools used for the collection of practices give quantitative and qualitative information in order to proceed with the next step, namely a benchmarkingexercise following 10 criteria Women and economy: good practices

The next step Communicate to disseminate : G4G target’s ! • In Internal at the public level : public servant, agent, direction of the administration, and of course the elected persons. • Experts networks : who participate at different studies and workshop. • Larger networks : economic groups, labor, consular chamber of commerce … • Larger public : communication at a larger level via • internet website, video documentary • newspaper of the Region Ile de France for example... • Report made to INTERREG • And all the presentation of the project, in different conference at the European Level.

The Venice Declaration On October 20, 2009 the elected officials of the involved regions met in Venice and signed the declaration that commits them to actively pursue the following objectives within their regional government bodies: • To paint a precise picture of each national and regional situation • To create transparency in their local government bodies • To take the Human Ressources processes forward in the regional organisations • To implement measures for reconciling private and professional lives • To promote parity in their political bodies and in the departments • To make public grants/subsidies and public contracts conditional to equal opportunities policies

New studies • In a first step • Access to finance (social finance, micro credit, cooperatives, social economy). • Careers in public service (pay-gap, working conditions, advancement, career ... etc..) • Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics. •  And a second wave of studies • Working Conditions • Stereotypes, • Support for women experiencing poverty and social exclusion (2010 to fight against poverty and social exclusion) • Education and learning
