  4. Characteristics of The Prioress was a woman devoted to her faith (after all she was a nun). There were other elements show in her tale that exhibited this trait as well. First of all the main character of the tale showed immense faith in his religion (catholic) by singing that praise song in areas where they do not agree with the message. He did not back down from his faith, even after he was severely injured, he always remained faithful and was positive that the Virgin was save him. The Prioress represents the boy in her tale, they both have shown great faith to the non-believers.

  5. Since the pilgrimage’s destination is to see the funeral of a martyr what better to have in the novel about a young martyr. This tale makes you want to be like the boy, and have faith where you would die to stand up for it. This tale gets the travelers ready to reach their destination. Why would Chaucer include her in his novel?

  11. Symbols The young injured boy symbolizes Jesus. He was a martyr for his faith, and paid a high price for it. Jesus did the same when he died on the cross, he was the ultimate martyr.

  12. Right now you are probably saying “What is this book doing here!”, but I promise it correlates the the tale. Cassie Bernall was killed in 1999 during the famous Columbine High School Massacre. She was killed her faith, similar to the widow’s son. The boy and Cassie showed they valued their faith over their lives and were willing to pay the ultimate price for it as well.

  13. Now blog about what you thought of this tale. If you liked it, disliked it, or whatever else you think is relevant to the tale. Let your voice be heard!
