  2. INTRODUCTION • We all want to be healthy. We all want our families to be healthy. We can do this by looking after our health, and by having good hygiene. • Many diseases are transferred from one person to another due to poor hygiene. • This presentation will show you some basic steps you can take to: • Stay healthy, • Keep your family healthy, and • Keep your workmates healthy.

  3. HYGIENE • Wash hands before eating. • Wash hands after going to the toilet. • Shower once a day and shampoo your hair regularly. • Wash your clothes regularly. • Beard need to be shaved/trimmed, fingernails cut short. • Brush teeth every day. • See the medic for any skin problems, cuts or scratches.

  4. HYGIENE • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze. • Only use the toilets that have been designated. • Do not carry food into your room – it will attract flies, mice, rats and ants. • Food preparation areas must be cleaned and disinfected before and after use.

  5. HEALTH • DO eat fruits and vegetables every day. • DO drink only clean water. • DO sleep for at least 6-8 hours every night.

  6. HEALTH • DO wear your gloves when lifting. • DO wear clean socks with your boots. • DO wear safety glasses where needed. • DO wear hearing protection when required. Ear plugs are single use – a new pair should be used each day. • Do put your rubbish in the bin. • DON’T share PPE with others. It is not good hygiene.

  7. SUMMARY • Prevention is better than cure. • Eat well, you are what you eat. • Only drink water that you know is clean. • Rest well, you know your limits. • Shower each day. • Wash your clothes regularly. • Throw your rubbish in a bin. • Wokim something straight.
