  8. Warehouse AdditionThe expansion built July/August of 2007 doubles the current space available. It is used for storing desks, medical equipment, etc. that won’t hurt to freeze. New addition starts here

  10. The Project Schoolroom ChapelThe Project Schoolroom woodshop was remodeled into a chapel by the NOMADS in July and August, 2009.

  11. Wood Shop A two story woodshop was moved into the warehouse addition and finished during the summer of 2009. Bottom floor is used for cutting desks and the 2nd story is used to sand and apply polyurethane to them.

  12. SCHOOL DESKS • School desks are assembled by volunteers after the pieces are cut in the woodshop. They are then knocked down, sanded, and a two coats of polyurethane are applied. After the desks are dry they are wrapped in stretch wrap and are ready to ship to mission schools in other countries.

  13. FOUR WORK ROOMS ADDED • 4 rooms have been constructed against the north wall of the second/east warehouse. Desk Shop

  14. SEWING MACHINE & BICYCLE REPAIR SHOPS • MMDC is always looking for volunteers to work in the sewing machine & bicycle repair shops so reconditioned sewing machines and bicycles can be sent to mission sites all over the world. Sewing Machine Repair Shop Bicycle Repair Shop

  19. The Gift Shop Twice Giving Gifts is an international shop benefiting artisans in developing countries.

  20. Picnic Shelter The picnic shelter was constructed during the summer and fall of 2005 in memory of Esther Doerfler Stevens.

  21. As of February 2010 the Midwest Mission Distribution Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UMCOR and is one of 7 cooperating Depots in the UMCOR Relief Supply Network.

  25. Personal Dignity Kit • In January 2012 a new kit was introduced in response to Bishop Rev. Gregory V. Palmer’s reflection and challenge based on Psalm 41. This is the Center’s response to the poor among us. The Personal Dignity Kit includes these items: Hand Towel, Washcloth, Soap, Shampoo, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Nail Clipper, Antiperspirant, Razor and Comb in a 1 gallon baggie.

  42. Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts In the first two weeks 7 semi-loads, totaling 101,039 lbs. were sent to the Gulf-coast area. The 4 month total was 395,000 pounds. Health kits, blankets, water, toilet paper, Flood Buckets, etc.

  43. OTHER FACTS: • The MMDC opened in March of 2000. • 323 disbursements, totaling over 143 tons, were made from the MMDC in 2012. • The MMDC is funded through the generosity of individuals, civic groups, local congregations, and conferences. • The MMDC is dependent on volunteers!

  45. In 2012,approximately 1,957 individuals from 23 different states, representing 408 churches, volunteered for a total of 34,995 hours at MMDC.

  48. Trash to Treasure Many items have outlasted their need in their first situation.
