  3. Student responses: • Ben:“Better than a book because you get to visualize it and move around” • Jake: “Hands on, keeps your mind occupied on that thing whereas when you’re writing in a book you get distracted and just start doodling cos you get bored” • Greg: “When you find something interesting you want to go further and further, the game’s like that“ • Toma : “Same as learning on a building site, but not as intimidating” • Angus: “I’m like more a hands on person, I need to see something, or if someone shows me how to do something I know how to do it, but if they write it I wont really know”

  4. “Better like cosyou’re actually seeing it and doing it rather than just reading about it….”

  5. Targeted delivery • Games-based delivery is particularly suited to VET learners who are: • more visual than verbal, in that they like to watch and see rather than read and listen • hands-on learners who prefer to learn by doing and by practising • characterised by socially contextualisedlearning where they like to learn in groups with other learners • not self-directed learners, but like to have instructor guidance and a clear understanding of what is required of them. • (Smith and Dalton 2005)
