  2. Why is this important? See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. Colossians 2:8

  3. What are the competing Worldviews? Christianity Islam Secular Humanism Marxist-Leninist Cosmic Humanist Postmodern

  4. 10 Areas of a Worldview • Theology • Philosophy • Biology • Psychology • Ethics • Sociology • Law • Politics • Economics • History

  5. 2 Corinthians 10:5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

  6. 1. Theology In theology, the evidence for the existence of a personalandholyGod, a designed universe, and an earth prepared for human life far outweighs any argument for atheism or pantheism.

  7. WORLDVIEW: Christian Theology

  8. A. What is the most important part of a house? Theology is the FOUNDATION of every worldview.

  9. B. Theology asks the question: What about GOD?

  10. C. Two basic types of theology: • Theism – God IS. • How do we know that God is? a. Cosmology – study of the UNIVERSE (everything) and its BEGINNING. Where did it all come from? b. Teleology– study of DESIGN. Someone must have planned it. c. Morality – study of RIGHT and WRONG. How do we know we are sinners?

  11. C. Two basic types of theology: Atheism – God IS NOT.

  12. D. Two types of Theistic Revelation: GENERAL – God’s Creation (Cosmology, Teleology, Morality) SPECIAL – God’s Word (Trinity, Salvation, Exclusivity of Jesus Christ)

  13. E. How can we know that the Bible is inspired by God? • Unity – the Bible CONFIRMS the Bible. (prophesy) • Changed Lives – born AGAIN. (transformation) • Moral Truth – I know I am a SINNER. (conviction) • The Bible itself – faith comes through HEARING, and hearing by the word of God. (inspiration)

  14. F. God is a personal Being. Relational – He wants me to KNOW Him. Righteous – He wants me to be LIKE Him. Ruler – He wants me to OBEY Him. Redeemer – He wants me to be WITH Him.

  15. G. God is the God of the Bible. “The 7 C’s” (by Ken Ham) Creation – God made EVERYTHING. Corruption – Man SINNED. Catastrophe – God DESTROYED the earth by water. Confusion – The tower of BABEL. Christ – God became MAN and DWELT among us. Cross – Christ DIED for my sins. Consummation – He is COMING again.

  16. H. Biblical theology is “Christ-centered”. The Christian worldview is EXCLUSIVE. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

  17. 1 Chronicles 12:32 Of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.
