  1. „Water - elixir of life” –Project prepared by the students of Junior High School number1 in Raba Wyżna

  2. Waterpolution • Water pollution - disadvantageous physical, chemical and bacteriological properties of water caused by the introduction of nonorganic substances in excess (solid, liquid or gas), organic, radioactive or warmth which prevents the water from being used for drinking or for household means. • The most pollution enters water together with the sewage. The other sources of water pollution are transportation on water and land, using pesticides and artificial fertilizers as well as industrial and social waste. The water is also being polluted by the process of eutrophisation. The circulation of water in nature has been disturbed by thehuman - deforestation, monoculture of the agriculture, improper and excessive agricultural procedures and urbanisation.

  3. Waterpolution In order to measure the water in our district we underwent the following research: • The density of the ice and water from the water samples; • The temperature of boiling in the time correlation; • The rate at which the light bends.

  4. THESE ARE THE RESULTS: THE TABLE PRESENTING THE RESULTS OF WATER AT 200C:

  6. THESE ARE THE RESULTS: THE TABLE PRESENTING THE RESULTS OF THE BOILING OF WATER:

  7. THESE ARE THE RESULTS: THE TABLE PRESENTING THE RESULTS OF THE RATE AT WHICH THE LIGHT BENDS:

  8. CONCLUSIONS: • The density of water and ice depends on the degree of water pollution. If the water contains a lot of bacteria, minerals and microorganism, the density of water and ice increases.The measurement shows also that the density of ice is lower than the density of water. It is connected with the increase of the capacity of ice in the relation to the capacity of the water sample. It has a huge matter in the biological sense and it is called „an anomalous broadening of water”. • The measurement of boiling was done in the school physics laboratory. For this reason it might be unreliable. Unfortunately, there wasn’t used the same amount of water, undergoing the measurements. Moreover, the temperature of the distilled water differs from the water from the river intake. This water contains microorganisms and minerals which influence it. There are also differences between the intakes of the river Raba. The secondary pollution done by the human may cause it. The water in Harkabuz appeared to be very clean.

  9. CONCLUSIONS: • A tap water taken from Raba WyżnaWojtusiówka turned out to be the most polluted, its bending rate is 1,07 greater than the distilled water; • The next very polluted water sample is the water from Raba WyżnaSagułówki, the density of water is greater than the density of ice prepared from the distilled water for about 1,25 g/cm3; • The water from RokicinyPodhalańskie is another one with a high rate of pollution. Its boiling temperature differed the most from the the distilled water;

  10. CONCLUSIONS: • The water in Harkabuz and Raba Wyżna Role is clean • The pollution in the water may come from the harmful chemical compounds. The water contains microorganisms, alga, which increases its density, the bending rate is also different then. The mountains water contains a lot of mineral elements, such as Ca, Mg, that is why the water from the mountains streams shows a high deviation from the rate at which the distilled water bends.
