Weather in the Savanna Savanna Biomes have warm a warm temperature all year long; Savanna biomes have two very different seasons , they have one very long dry season (winter) and one very wet season (summer). In the dry season the Savanna will have about 4 inches of rain , Between December and February there will be no rainfall at all. It is a little cooler during the dry season. Most plants die during the dry season and some rivers even dry up which sends the animals away to migrate for food. When the wet season comes the animals migrate back and the plants are moist and rivers flow . During the wet season Savannas can reach up to 50 inches of rain.

Animals Animals living in the Savanna include the African elephant, wild dog, chacma Baboon, Black mamba snake, Lion, Crocodile, Koala bear, Caracal, Egyptian mongoose, Emu , Zebra, Hyena, Giraffe, Antelopes, Rhinoceros, Cheetahs and Vultures. All these animals do not stay in the Savanna all year long ; they leave during the hot dry season and come back as soon as the rain comes , rivers return and when plants begin to grow.

Plants The Savanna has a lot of plants; Some of the plants in the Savanna are Gum acacia trees, Baobab, Bermuda grass, Candelabra grass, Elephant grass, Gum tree Eucalyptus, Jackalberry trees, Kangaroo paw, Jarrow, Manketti trees, River bush willow, Umbrella thorn acacia, and the Whistling thorn. Those are some of the many plants located in the Savanna.

Facts about the Savanna • African Elephants are listed as endangered • Savanna holds the largest mammal herbivore biodiversity on the planet • In the Savanna its wet in the winter & dry in the summer • Plants in Savanna are made to grow in the Savanna during long periods of drought • Savannas are known as tropical grasslands • Most of the animals in the Savanna have long legs or wings • There are over different 40 hoofed animals in the African Savanna
