  2. Some facts about our school…..
  3. Last June, the Greenwich School District was ranked the 11th best school district in the entire Capital Region (out of 85 regional school districts). This ranking was based entirely on the academic results earned by Greenwich students on Regents exams and other New York State exams.
  4. How did the Class of 2013 do?

  6. How do Greenwich Students do on AP exams? Greenwich students outperformed students from other schools in the United States in six of the eight AP classes we offered. The average score earned by our students was a 3.45 (the highest average score in our school’s history). Nineteen GCS students earned distinction from the College Board for their performance on AP exams.
  7. Music at Greenwich There are 38 students in the Junior High Band and 71 students in the High School Band this year! There are 82 students in the Junior High Chorus and 38 students in our High School chorus!
  8. Extracurricular Success! The New York State Sports Writers Association (NYSSWA) ranked the Greenwich Athletic program as the #2 “Class C” sports program in New York State for the 2012-2013 school year. The Greenwich girls’ Athletic program was ranked the best in New York State, for all size schools for the second year in a row!
  9. Last year the Greenwich Field Hockey and Greenwich Softball teams earned trips to the New York State Public High School Championships. Last year the Greenwich the Girl’s Cross Country team ended the year ranked #2 in NYS while the Boys Cross Country Team was ranked 4th.
  10. More Excellence in Athletics! 5 GCS teams earned Section II championships 5 more GCS teams were runners-up in Section II 7 GCS teams earned league championships 11 GCS athletic teams earned distinction as NYS Scholar Athlete teams 2 GCS track and field athletes won state championships last year!
  11. Last year approximately 80% of the students in Greenwich Junior-Senior High School were involved in at least one extracurricular and/or co-curricular activity. These activities include clubs, athletic teams, the theater program, and the performing arts programs. Many students were involved in more than one activity!
  12. FFA Success! 10 of our current FFA members will soon be attending the annual FFA National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky representing New York State. Our dairy judging and parliamentary procedures teams will be competing with teams from around the country for a National Championship!
  13. State and National Recognition for our school Newsweek and the Daily Beast ranked Greenwich High School as one of the Best 2,000 high schools in the United States last year. The Albany Business Review ranked Greenwich High School as the 12th Best High School in the Capital Region last year. The Albany Business Review ranked the Greenwich Social Studies Department as the 4th Best in the Capital Region last year. The English Department was ranked 12th and the Science Department was ranked 22nd.
  14. A New York State “Reward” School The New York State Commissioner of Education Dr. John King recently designated Greenwich High School as a NYS Reward School. This designation was based upon the superior performance of our students in math and ELA as well as the high percentage of students earning Regents or Advanced Regents Diplomas. Greenwich was 1 of only 249 schools in New York State to receive this recognition. Only 5% of schools in New York State earned this honor.
