  7. What’s wrong with me? A: I am “of flesh sold in bondage to sin” • the skin covering my bones • my whole body • all of me – material & immaterial • all of me as a fallen human being • body and spirit broken by sin

  8. What’s wrong with me? A: I am “of flesh sold in bondage to sin” • legal slavery • legally owned by sin • now owned by Christ (6:7) • experiential slavery • enslaved to our sinful habits & addictions (6:16) • inherited slavery • subject to the traits you were born with (7:14)

  9. What’s wrong with me? A: I am “of fleshsold in bondage to sin” = I’m still broken and by nature bent towards sin

  10. What’s wrong with me? A: I am “of flesh sold in bondage to sin” Result: there’s a war within me... “inner man” = “mind” vs. “members of my body”

  11. What am I? All parts broken by sin Immaterial (Invisible) Material (Visible) Spirit Body Heart Flesh & Bones Conscience Members Mind Reasoning & Intentions All the parts of my body, anatomy One Unified Person – “Me” “Man,” a “Soul”

  12. What’s wrong with me? A: I am “of flesh sold in bondage to sin” Result: there’s a war within me... “inner man” = “mind” • how I reason & make intentions • thus, how I choose to obey God “members of my body” • how I interact w/ the world – my 5 senses • thus, how I experience temptation

  15. Two Lessons • The normal Christian life is STRUGGLE Know your vulnerabilities • If I try to fight alone, I will lose Practice humility with God & others
