  1. The Bodies Exhibit An interactive slideshow for the youth and adults of America. By ConorGammond and Mary Beth Bielicki

  2. How cells get nutrients Eat food with nutrients in it (protein and carbohydrates) cell cell Mouth Stomach The enzymes in the stomach break down the food and separate the nutrients Stomach digests food and enzymes turn part of the protein into amino acids Intestines The fat passes through the intestines and into the bloodstream The protein (nutrients) pass through the intestines and into the bloodstream The blood brings the fat (sugar & carbohydrates) to the needy cells The blood gives different cells the proteins they need to survive Blood Stream

  3. How cells get oxygen • We breathe in. 2. The oxygen then goes down the trachea into the lungs. 3. The lungs then give oxygen to bloodstream… Mouth Trachea 4. And the bloodstream delivers the oxygen to cells. Lungs cell cell cell cell Blood Stream

  4. How cells get rid of waste Once the cell receives oxygen and nutrients it needs, in return it gives the blood cell carbon dioxide and excess water and heat. This is carried back to the lungs, so when we breathe out, we give off carbon dioxide and excess heat and water. Oxygen Receives Cell Lungs Red Blood Cell Gives Water Carbon Dioxide Heat

  5. How cells get rid of CO₂ The cells get oxygen from the circulatory system. In return the cell gives carbon dioxide, used oxygen, back to the red blood cell. The circulatory system takes back all the carbon dioxide to the lungs to breathe out. This is a non-stop process and goes on throughout your life. Lungs Cell Carbon Dioxide Red Blood Cell

  6. Tissues, Organs, & Systems Cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems make up our body by working together. Cell Tissue- made of the same cells working together. Organ- made of different tissues working together. Organ System- made of different organs working together.

  7. How the body might “break”
