  2. I. Background • Diaspora -people settled far from their ancestral home B. African Diaspora -People of African ancestry living outside of Africa ex:African Americans, Afro-Carribeans, Afro-Latinos, Africans living in Europe, etc.

  3. I. Background C. What do all Black people have in common? -All Black people are considered inferior by Europeans and face discrimination Why? Slavery Colonialism

  4. II.What is Black Nationalism? A. A political movement for Black self-determination and independence B. Independence from whom? -Europeans (and the USA) C. Black Nationalism vs. Multiculturalism D. The Black Diaspora in 1950 1.Most of Africa is colonized 2.African Americans are an internal colony of the USA

  5. III. Black Nationalism in the USA A. Malcolm X 1. Political - Bl. Ppl. control the politics/politicians in the Bl. Comm. 2. Economics - Bl. owned & operated businesses…create jobs 3. Social - not integration w/ whites -instead, focus on Black social uplift B. Malcolm X assassinated in 1965
