JAYANTA SENGUPTA IIM Calcutta Prof. Sengupta, an alumnus of IIM Calcutta, is a professional with more than 35 years of experience in advertising, brand building, academics & corporate training. He has worked for renowned advertising agencies such as Draft FCB-Ulka, Rediffusion Y&R & Lowe and has handled clients such as Tata Sons, Eveready, SRF, B.P., FedEx, and Raymond. CSR Activities Swachh Sector - 5 A UWSB Kolkata Initiative Blood Donation Camp At UWSB, Ahmedabad Social responsibility assures of the fact that the institute is focused towards its duties – towards students, towards education and towards society. Unitedworld School of Business - Ahmedabad in association with Indian Red Cross Society - Ahmedabad organizes Blood Donation camp on 14th August every year. Students along with the faculty participate in this noble initiative. The whole nation is gripped with the Prime Minister’s launch of Swachh Bharat Campaign and people from all walks of life have come forward to support this movement. As a response to this call, UWSB students, staff and faculty led a drive for approximately about 2 hours, during lunch so as to be able to encourage office goers to use the bins rather than litter the streets with paper plates and cups. Sewage Treatment Plant Objectives: Ÿ To help students develop a sense of responsibility towards their surrounding Ÿ To motivate students to maintain cleanliness Ÿ To make the campaign visible in the adjoining area and keep it alive in the minds of the people I was a part of one of the CSR activities at Unitedworld and I feel so proud to study at an institute that is aware and active for the society as well. WEAR YOUR HELMET As an active part of the CSR efforts carried out by Unitedworld, a Sewage Treatment Plant has been set up on the campus. It is an humble step towards awareness & prevention of contaminated water pollution in the environment. The treated water will be used for plantation purpose. Student Unitedworld School of Business had organized an awareness campaign called “Wear Your Helmet”. A group of students had initiated this event and made a presentation on importance of following the traffic rules, wearing helmet being one of them. Ms. Martina Gleissenebner Executive Coach and Consultant Martina Gleissenebner from Austria shared her knowledge about Brand Building with the students of PGDM. Her rich experience and expertise in branding solutions helped the students in distinctly understanding the terms -Corporate Branding, Personal Branding and Leadership Branding. Mr. Abir Atarthy and Mr. Sandeep Sengupta, Certified Ethical Hacker, Indian School of Ethical Hacking In today’s world when everyone is surrounded by electronic gadgets and appears to be very conscious of everything, this session showed the audience how much awareness is needed and how small mistakes can lead to huge consequences in the widespread world of internet. This session helped the students know more about cyber crimes and made them learn how to avoid unnecessary harassments. Mr. Debasish Biswas Country Head, CIMA Mr. Debasish Biswas, Country Head of CIMA interacted with the students of UWSB. Mr. Biswas discussed the expectations of the recruiters and why some candidates find it difficult to get through the interview stage despite excellent academic credentials. Some of the interview tips helped the students understand the dynamics of the interviews. It was highly engaging and interactive session, where in the students had an opportunity of getting insight into “Practical Management” as well as issues that a young professional and an entrepreneur would need to be mindful of. At Unitedworld, I got to learn from some of the most renowned personalities of industry. Student Ms. Karen Smythe Global Trainer Karen Smythe from Australia enlightened the students of PGDM and BBA with her wisdom. The topic of her discussion was “Goal Setting” and ways to achieve it. During the course of her session, she made the students ponder over their goals and also focused on ways to achieve it. In a short span, she was able to touch the hearts of the students and left a mark on their tender minds. Dr. V. Aditya Srinivas Chief Operating Officer and Chief Economist, Bombay Stock Exchange Broker’s Forum, Mumbai. Mr. Deepak Mohoni Founder of Trendwatch (India) Pvt.Ltd. Mr. Mohoni delivered a lecture on ‘The Stock Market and You’ to the students. Mr. Mohoni explained the concepts of Efficient Market Hypothesis, Random Walk Theory and Portfolio Management Theory. Emphasis was also laid on the types of investments – Active and Passive. He also explained the difference between trading and investment and impact of media on stock market with the students. Sunita Williams (Astonaut, NASA) World renowned NASA astronaut Ms. Sunita Williams graced the Unitedworld campus with her presence and inspired the students and the faculty through an inspiring interactive session. Dr. Srinivas interacted with the students and shared his thoughts about the recent developments in Indian Capital Market. He also spoke about the history and development of Indian Financial System and gave insight to students about various scams in the markets have formed the base for regulatory norms that are created by the market regulator SEBI. She talked about her experience in space, preparation for the space trio and her never let go dreams even in the tough times.
