INTRODUCTIONSustainable Tourism • Sustainable Tourism in its purest sense is an industry which attempts to make a low impact on the environment and local culture, while helping to generate income, employment, and the conservation of local eco-systems. It is responsible tourism which is both ecologically and culturally sensitive. “THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH”

  6. PAST • Little population growth • Lack of interest within the sector • Women were domestically based. • Accessibility and infrastructure • Lack of proper promotion of the region. “THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH”

  7. REASONS FOR IMBALANCE • Population growth • More people have entered the world of work. • Constant use of natural non renewable resources. • No creativity as it pertains to the use of renewable resources. • Lack of information “THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH”

  8. SOLUTIONS • Educate the public about this important sector-its importance. (Economically and otherwise) • Encourage restrictions on the use of certain areas. • Encourage regional bodies and officials to meet to discuss issues relating to these problems. • Provide training for individuals in various fields, to work in the industry. (Scholarships, conservation programme, Agricultural projects, etc.) “THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH”
