    2. Problem: Small Sawmill Operators on PoW Needed Assistance Karen Petersen hired in 2001 to assist small mill operators & work on community infrastructure issues Karen worked with PoW Chamber of Commerce on the PoW Forest Products Task Force

    3. Networking – Prince of Wales Networking is basic Extension work Karen attended a Forest Products Technical Providers Conference in Colorado and heard about Fuels to Schools She visited a Fuels to Schools Project in Darby, Montana

    4. Networking & Creating Opportunities Karen worked with Jon Bolling and City of Craig on the municipal wood fired boiler Karen hosts numerous tours on PoW for technical providers leading to opportunities for small mill owners

    5. Problem – SBB Killed Trees in the Copper River create wildfire hazard Heidi Veach hired for an Extension position in Glennallen Her initial focus on residential wildfire hazards soon turned to wildfire fuels reduction Heidi works with BLM & DNR

    6. Creating Opportunities for Fuels Reduction and Wood Energy Wildfire Fuels reduction lead to opportunities with Copper River School District & Wood Energy Task Force Heidi helped CRSD with Kenny Lake school wood energy proposal

    7. Problem: Rural Alaskans lack ready access to wood heating resources

    8. Wood Heating Web Site Assembled Extension team of Bob Gorman, Lee Elder, Heidi Veach, Karen Petersen, Adam Knight Developed a storyline Assigned tasks Retained a webmaster, Peter Torkelson Spent time and money

    9. Wood Heat Web Site Planning Develop an accessible information delivery system targeting villages in western and southeast Alaska & CRV Incorporate known limitations from state and federal regulations Address wood heat health and safety issues
