  10. Bundeswehr • Militärdienst = military service • Can take place with any of the branches of the armed services • Luftwaffe = German Air Force • Men in educational or vocational training programs = can delay their service until completion of programs

  11. Duties of the Bundeswehr • Ensure national security and defense • International crisis management • Rescue and evacuation • Secure stability in Europe and the world

  12. Grundwehrdienst = Basic Training • Depends on the military branch (navy, army, air force, medical services, etc.) • Basic Training = 3 months • Includes: sports, obstacle courses, shooting practice, etc. • Special Training (if needed) = 3 months • For tank drivers, paratroopers, etc.
