  1. December 3, 2012 • Make sure your questions for Jumping Frogs are out and ready to go over. • To complete our analysis of Jumping Frogs and begin examining Dancer. • Reading for Literature 1-5 Starter Objectives/Standards

Things to do • Go over Jumping Frog questions • Tan workbook page 70: Title, author, page numbers, what do you think?, quick write (page 416 answer on page 70) • Read the story • On page 423 (put answers in tan workbook) 1-4, 6-10 AND What do you think now • 5 column chart analysis of the story

December 3, 2012 • Write down 2-3 things you want to change or convince people of. • These ideas should be something that can have people on the opposite side. • Ex: you want a later curfew, you want better lunches in the café • To generate a topic to practice persuasive techniques. To create an outline prior to writing a persuasive letter. • Writing 1 a-e Starter Objectives/Standards

  4. Things to do • Create an outline • Introduction should be introducing yourself and your request • Conclusion should remind your reader of your purpose in writing and make one last meaningful appeal for your cause (the first conclusion may need to be reworked several times).

  5. December 4, 2012 • Why is knowing who you are (in terms of family and ancestry) so important to us? • To continue working our analysis of Dancer using our unit 2 focus. • Reading for Literature 1-5 Starter Objectives/Standards

  6. December 4, 2012 • Review your returned outline and ask questions of Mrs. S as needed. • If you do not have questions you need to begin drafting a rough draft persuasive letter. Use formal letter writing style. • To write a rough draft persuasive letter that follows the outline created. • Writing 1 a-e and 6 focus on planning Starter Objectives/Standards

  7. December 5, 2012 • Objective: begin preparing for Unit 2 test • Review materials are NOT for a grade and are optional to complete. HOWEVER, if you elect not to complete these materials you will need to find something quiet to do that does not distract your classmates who wish to prepare for their tests. There will be no opportunities to correct tests for more credit so perhaps study and preparation are the best route to take in this situation.

  8. December 5, 2012 • What does it mean to peer edit? • How can you make sure your editing notes are useful and meaningful? • To peer edit a rough draft letter and write a second draft. • Writing 1 a-e, 4-6 Starter Objectives/Standards

  9. December 6, 2012 • Continuation of test preparation. • Be sure you are reviewing your previous units of vocabulary as well as completing the review sheets provided.

  10. December 6, 2012 • Prepare line to go to the computer lab. Take all of your belongs for third period as well. (2nd period, and 3/5) • To generate a final draft copy of your persuasive letter. • Writing 1 a-e, 4-6 Starter Objectives/Standards

  11. December 7, 2012 • Final day of test preparation. • Be quiet and working on something. • Make sure you have reviewed all of the vocabulary leading up to unit 5.

  12. December 7, 2012 • (2nd period) Prepare line to go to the computer lab. Take all materials for third period as well. • (5th period) You may choose between a reading day and journaling. Either way it should be quiet  • To complete a final draft copy of a persuasive letter. • Writing 1 a-e, 4-6 Starter Objectives/Standards
