    3. 3 You are a Teacher! Introduce yourself as one Establish yourself by: being prepared and up to date being professional being self-confident knowing procedures referring to students by name being available and flexible being sensitive to student needs

    4. 4 The Work Day High School- Open 7:33am (7:23am for staff), Close 2:10pm (2:23pm for staff) Intermediate- Open 8:35am (8:15am for staff), Close 2:55pm (3:15pm for staff) Elementary- Open 9:20am (9:00am for staff), Close 3:40pm (4:00pm for staff) SUCCESS Program- Open 7:45am (7:25am for staff), Close 1:40pm (2:25pm for staff) Alternative High School and 2nd Chance Program- Open 8:30am (8:10am for staff), Close 2:30pm (2:50pm for staff) Pre-School- Open 9:30am (8:40am for staff), Close 3:30pm (3:40pm for staff)

    5. 5 Must Do’s Arrive On Time Go directly to the Main Office Introduce Yourself and Your Assignment Know Teacher’s Name Sign-in and out in accordance with School policy Ask about any Special Duties Check Teacher’s Mailbox Get Classroom Keys Review Schedule and Materials Be ready when the students arrive Be confident!

    6. 6 A Good Beginning First Impressions-Greet the students pleasantly Perform opening exercises (attendance, etc) Review Rules & Procedures Start and End Lessons on Time Be Active and Aware Prevent Behavior Problems and know who to call if one arises

    7. 7 During Class Time Eyes behind your head Be consistent Make personal contact Keep under control Always show respect Refer to students as students Keep them busy and on task Walk around the room

    8. 8 Teaching the Lesson Motivate students so they are interested in the lesson Be clear and to the point Ask good questions Be sure to stop and review with students Provide for active participation Give clear assignments

    9. 9 Helpful Hints Preparing Dress professionally Know the subject(s) Be aware of where the school is located Discipline Establish a positive rapport with students Be patient Be fair and consistent Call for assistance before a situation gets out of hand Give praise when warranted

    10. 10 End of the School Day Make sure the room is neat and orderly—leave it as you found it Leave a note for the teacher containing pertinent information Close up the room in accordance with School policy Return keys to the Main Office and report any incidents Be sure to sign out

After completed background checks, certificate received, you will receive a handbook and additional information. Keep Ms. Trucano informed of any changes of status, phone number, certification, and availability.
