1. Adding Works Cited & Works Consulted Page • Make sure every source from your sentence outline is on or added to your works cited page. • Open 3 documents – 1. SO 2. WC 3. WC • Copy and paste Works Cited page and place it at the end of your SO so that it begins a new page and a new page number. ( You may have to hit “enter” until a new page begins. • Do the same with your works consulted page. • This will be your last page.

2. Say Good-bye to first person… • Remove all of your: • I • Me • You • We • Them

3. Say Hello to: • Formal…..3rd person….writing. • Instead of….”I think research class is necessary”….. • Change your text to: “Research class is necessary.”

4. Instead of…… • “All of you should become experts in learning the research process.” • Change to 3rd person formal… • “Freshman should become experts in learning the research process.”

5. Remove: • “This paper is about students’ writing research papers and how important they are.” • Replace with: • “Writing research papers is an important skill for every student.”

6. Perfect Thesis Statement explains.. • Topic - ( subject) Smoking • Your Position – (opinion) is harmful to the environment • Why – (because) because is puts the smoker, the surrounding air and the innocent by-standers at risk.

7. Removing awkward phrases…. • This paper will focus onthe growing animal herds and how that is bad for the environment and the main area of concentration is that hunting is an effective way to control the animal herd growth, is not destructive to the species, and is good for the environment. • The growing animal herds has a negative effect on the environment but hunting is an environmentally effective way to control the animal herd growth.
