JODC ACTIVITIES Since its establishment (1965), JODC has been fulfilling the role as the synthetic data bank of Japan as the representative of Japan in the IODE system • Information Management; - National Oceanographic Programmes (NOP) - Cruise Summary Report (CSR) - Instruments Fixed on the Seabed • Data Management; Collection, Archive and exchange • International Activities RNODC for WESTPAC, NEAR-GOOS, WOCE/ADCP-DAC, JGOFS/DMO, etc.

Marine Research Organizationsin Japan • Japan Coast Guard • Japan Meteorological Agency • Fisheries Agency and Fisheries Experimental Stations • Defense Agency • Ministry of Environment • Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology • Geographical Survey Institute • Universities About 150 organizations 160 research vessels 900 research cruises/year
