Building sector and community capacity Mental Health First Aid Up to 1200 people have received training in Mental Health First Aid across Victoria VicHealth Mental Health Promotion short course - 52% were from health/community health sector - 48% were from a range of sectors including housing, education, local government and Justice - participants reported that they gained significant information and skills - 66% reported their intention to incorporate the knowledge gained into practice

Clinical leadership and training Innovative training to drought counsellors and rural service providers • 15 No Bull Therapy workshops • 323 participants 2007 – 08 • Train the Trainer model utilised for sustainability • Cooperative Inquiry Groups • - 100 attendees in 2007 • Extending this model to generalist counsellors in 2009

  5. What have we learned? The enablers • flexibility of funding guidelines • building and extending existing partnership work • the use of adaptive practice and innovative community engagement techniques • a focus on building and sustaining community capacity
