  3. About My Project Assignment: Identify a question (social, cultural, political, educational, religious, ethical, medical, sports, etc.) that you genuinely want to investigate and attempt to answer. My Question: What is the reason for the recent obsession of Twilight, especially among girls? Title Slide About Me My Writing Process Project Description English 110 ObjectiveLessons Learned

  4. Project Description What: We were challenged to come up with a subject that interested us and a question that we wanted to find the answer to about that subject. Why My Question: I chose this question because, at the time, the second Twilight movie (New Moon) had just been released in theaters and EVERYONE was talking about it. My Project: I set out to determine why people, especially girls, were so caught up with this new phenomenon. What about it makes them so obsessed with it? 5. My Writing Process Then after some research on fan sites and newspaper articles, I was able to determine some possible causes of this new craze. After determining some possible causes, I created a survey on a fan site and asked specific questions about the possible causes to figure out the most popular/actual causes. I started out writing with my own experience of coming into contact with huge Twilight fanatics at the opening day midnight showing of New Moon. Once I was able to pinpoint the most popular/actual causes, I was about to do more research on those specific causes to find more deeper information about them. 6. English 110 Objective “A more sophisticated understanding of the relationship of purpose, audience, and voice, and an awareness that writing expectations and conventions vary within the academy and in professional and public discourse.” • Audience: Everyday People • I wrote in a more informal style, typical of a magazine or newspaper article • I started off general, then brought in my own experience and then facts • Purpose: Investigation • New Moon was the third biggest opener in Hollywood history. • To find out what about the series makes these girls so interested • Voice: Objective Source • I am not someone who is passionately for or against the subject • I wrote to inform people, both die-hard fans and casual media consumers Title Slide About Me About My Project Project Description My Writing ProcessLessons Learned

  7. Lessons Learned About Twilight Fanatics About My Writing • - Because this was a personal investigation paper, I was able to choose a topic that I was interested in and because of that, I was more excited to do the research and the writing • Being able to use my own personal experience made the project and the writing more fun • I broke the paper down into eight different sections, it really taught me how it is possible to get so much different information to coherently come together • They will go all out in dressing up and expressing their love for it • Most girls are so interested in Twilight for two distinct reasons: • Edward Cullen is “Smokin’ Hott.” These girls are just in awe at how strikingly handsome he is. • True Love Can Wait. Stephanie Meyer, the author, shows the girls (readers) that there is a Prince Charming at there who is willing to wait to have sex.
