The Latin American Business Association (LABA) is a student organization with the mission of creating a liaison between Latin America and the Stern Community at an academic, corporate, and social level facilitating and promoting cultural and professional exchange. Our Mission… • Help members adapt to the new reality • Access a lifetime network • Support in the recruiting process • Integrate companies, recruiters, alumni and you • Have fun with a great group of people

Social Events John DayGustavo Petrei • Promote 2 LABA Parties (one in each semester) • Fall LABA Party • Spring LABA Party • Organize 2 LABA Beer Blasts (one in each semester) 1st year VP’s Social Events • Participate in the organization of the Fall Semester LABA party in order to be able to take more responsibility in the preparation of the Spring Semester party • Promote the party among the 1st years • Sell, sell and sell tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!…

Corporate Relations Paulo Moreira • Maximize networking opportunities for our members • Organize events with prospect companies in US • Help members be better prepared for the recruiting process • Organize Latin American specific recruiting panels • Advise MBA1s throughout the process 1st year VP’s Corporate Relations • Coordinate Corporate Events for LABA MBA1s • Manage requests from Corporations interested in LABA members • Prospect and promote Internship opportunities for LABA members

Alumni Ignacio Vollmer • Organize International Alumni mixer in conjunction with EBS and ABS • Enhance the LABA Alumni database • Incorporate a LABA Group in LinkedIn • Help LABA members contact Alumni 1st year VP’s Alumni • Collaborate with LABA Alumni database enhancements • Collaborate with the Alumni mixer • Facilitate interaction with alumni

Academic Events Javier Ardila • Global Business Conference – February, 2007 • Organization traditionally led by LABA and EMA • Industry Educational Lunches • Promote activities focused in issues of interest in Latin America/Spain 1st year VP’s Academic Events • Participate in the organization of LABA panels in GBC • Coordinate invitations of Key speakers for LABA panels at GBC

  11. Finance Juan Gaviria • Manage the treasury of the club • Prepare club’s budget • Book-keep revenues/expenses of events (Laba Party, conferences) • Provide general refunds and deposits • Coordinate fundraising • Maintain database of LABA members

  12. Technology Michelle Rizk • Update LABA’s website with events, news and contact information • Propose new technology tools to facilitate communication among LABA members • Support club activities using technology solutions

  13. Part-Time Students Cruz Gamboa • Engage part-time students on LABA • Encourage networking between full-time and part-time students with interest in Latin America • Facilitate contact with potential sponsors of activities

  17. Simple application requirements • Apply for max. 2 positions in order of preference • Send e-mail to laba@stern.nyu.edu with resume AND one paragraph stating why do you want to join LABA • Needs to be a 1st year officer to later run for president in the next year election

The process will be fast Process: ~1½ week Nomination Selection Communication • Send an email to LABA indicating your interest • Deadline to send email is: • Monday Sep 25th 08:00 PM • Every 2nd year VP will interview candidates for their areas (9/26~9/28) • Officers will meet and decide on candidates (9/29) • Everyone will be communicated of the decision via phone or email • Friday Sep 29th
