  8. Verse 10Two introspective proverbs regarding knowledge of the inner being.

  9. “The heart knows the bitterness of its soul.”

  10. “The heart knows the bitterness of its soul.”“And its joy is not shared with others.”

  11. It is impossible to fully communicate the depth of our emotion (from bitterness to joy) or our experiences with anyone else. See vs. 13.

  12. Ecc 7:3, “Sorrow is better than laughter, for when a face is sad a heart may be happy.” Only you know what is truly going on inside your soul.

  13. 1 Cor 2:11,“For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.”

  14. There may be outward circumstances for all to see, vs. 11, but appearances are deceptive, vs. 13.

  15. We should never think or say we understand someone else’s situation or feelings. That is reserved for God alone.

  16. That is why the psalmists ask Him to search and know them, cf. Psa 7:9; 26:2; 139:23f.

  17. This cautions against evaluating others by outward appearances and to be true to our own heart, cf. Job 19:27.

  18. Given that only you and God truly know what is going on in your heart, should lead you to turn to Him in all situations, 1 Peter 5:7, “Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”

  19. Verse 11,

  20. Verse 11, D1, The destruction of the wicked versus the prosperity of the upright.

  21. “Wicked will be destroyed”, SHAMAD, שָׁמַד: “to be laid waste, destroyed, or exterminated.” God’s judgment against the wicked.

  22. Psa 37:38,“Transgressors will be altogether destroyed. The posterity of the wicked will be cut off.” Discipline or judgment by association.

  23. The Contrast!

  24. “But the tent” OHEL, אֹהֶל: “Tent”YASHAR, “Upright”The positive believer living in their politeuma privileges.

  25. All believers are citizens of heaven, Phil 3:20, and are temporarily dwelling here on earth.

  26. “Will flourish” PARACH, פָּרַח,“caused to keep on flourishing.” Prov 11:28, “He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.”

  27. It also refers to the bud-shaped ornaments that decorated the Tabernacle, cf. Ex 25:33; 1 Kings 7:26. The analogy of the adornment of the temple of our soul, 1 Cor 3:15, in building up our house, (the edification complex of the soul).

  28. There will be Divine blessings for the positive believer along with blessing by association to their family.

  29. This verse compares the relative value of wisdom versus wickedness in light of the stability of the righteous and the impermanence of the fool, e.g., Psa 92:12-14; Prov 10:25; 11:3-6; 12:7.
