Primary Contacts – 4C • Teaching Assistantships (TA) • TCOM program currently has  5 or 6 positions • TCOM MS students may apply with a minimum of 12 credit hours in the TCOM program • Preference given: • 1 to seniority in program • 2to GPA • 3to knowledge of course Currently we have 2 Ph.D. in IT (TCOM graduates) and 4 TCOM TAs; other TCOM students work as BSIT and ECE TAs August 2007

Some Recent Developments – 1 • New laboratory option • Wireless Networks and Robotics: lecture and lab (no unique number yet) • Started in the Spring Semester; this fall it isTCOM 590 003 This wireless networks course may be taken as a core course elective in place of TCOM 514 or 515, or it may be taken as a Specialty Module 2 or 3 elective course. August 2007

  37. Some Recent Developments – 2 • Mandatory Core Course Options (prior to Fall 2006) • TCOM 509 (IP) and TCOM 519 (VoIP) could be taken in place ofTCOM 501 (LAN) and TCOM 502 (WAN) by students with the requisite background. This change is in the 2006/2007 catalog August 2007

  38. Some Recent Developments – 3 • Mandatory Core Course Options (from Fall 2006) • TCOM 509 (IP) and TCOM 529 (Adv’d. IP) may be taken in place of TCOM 501 (LAN) and TCOM 502 (WAN) by students with the requisite background. This change is in the 2007/2008 catalog.Students wanting to skip TCOM 501/502 must replace these with TCOM 509/529 (not 509/519) August 2007

Some Recent Developments – 4 • New Forensics Course • TCOM 663 “Operations of Intrusion Detection for Forensics” was approved in December 2006 • TCOM 663 was taught as TCOM 690 in Fall 2006 • TCOM 663 forms a forensics group with TCOM 660 “Network Forensics” and TCOM 661 “Digital Media Forensics” August 2007

Some Recent Developments – 4A • We are currently developing within the ECE department a SCHEV proposal for a Master’s in Computer Forensics (MCpFRS) • The MCpFRS could be approved to start in fall 2008 • The MCpFRS will make use of the existing Forensics courses taught in the TCOM program in the TFAS certificate element August 2007
