  3. Caliban • What do we know about Caliban’s past? • How did Caliban interact with Prospero? How did he interact with Miranda? • Does Caliban deserve what happens to him?

  4. Choose one: • Imagine you are directing a production of The Tempest – how do you think Caliban should look? Draw, paint, or somehow create a visual representation. • Imagine you are shipwrecked on Caliban’s island. What does he say to you? Remember to write Caliban-style (iambic pentameter, poetic) Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises, Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not. Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices That, if I then had waked after long sleep, Will make me sleep again (3.2.18)
