  11. Make-Up WORK When a student is absent from school it is the responsibility of the student to gather and complete missed work. Assignments are listed on the teachers’ website which you will find on the Gamble Rogers website located under the staff directory tab. If your child will be out for 3 or more days please contact the team leader to gather missed assignments.

  12. Absent…What should you do? Any student who has been absent from school MUST bring a note from a parent or guardian the day they return to school. You DO NOThave to call the school to report an absent. After 15 days of absences, whether excused or unexcused, a student MUST bring a doctor note for all absences due to illness. TardinessExcessive tardiness (more than 1 time per week) will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

REQUIRED Vaccinations  To enter 6th grade starting in 2014-2015 students MUSThave proof of 2 Varicella Disease vaccinations (chicken pox) or document that they have had chicken pox.  Rising 7th grade students (current 6th graders) need proof of the Tdap vaccine before entering 7th grade.  As soon as you have the documentation, please provide the guidance dept. with a copy. Documentation MUST be on a FL 680 Form Students will NOT be allowed to attend classes in August until we receive an updated FL 680 Form. Check with your child’s current school to determine if vaccination requirement is already met.

  14. Frequently asked questions… Early Checkout Procedure… As a safety precaution, students will only be released to the parent/guardian or the Emergency Contact listed on the Emergency Card. A current driver’s license or state issued ID must be presented in the front office to check a student out. The following procedure will be strictly enforced: NO student may be signed out after 1:30 p.m. every day except Wednesday. The latest early checkout on Wednesday is 12:30 p.m. Parents must arrive in the front office no later than 1:30 p.m. (or 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday) in order to sign their child out early. Cell Phones… Students may possess a cell phone. However, they MUST be turned off and stored in student’s backpack or locker. The phone shall not be used during the school day or on school buses. Failure to comply will result in the cellphone being confiscated. Dress Code Reminder…Skirts, dresses, shorts, etc., no shorter than four inches (4”) above the top of the kneePants MUST be worn at the waist No pants with holes and/or ripsNo flip flopsNo leggings No tank tops and/or crop tops

  16. 6th Grade Supply List • Math •  4 composition books (1 for each quarter) • Language Arts 2 – 1 subject spiral bound notebook w/ pocket (1 per semester) or 2 composition books •  Pack of Post It Notes •  Flashdrive (USB Storage Drive •  Pack of Index Cards • Science 1 composition book and 1 pocket folder with brads • World History 2 composition books (1 for each quarter), 1 pocket folder with brads •  Pack of Post It Notes •  Pack of Index Cards • These items should be carried in a pencil box or pouch in the backpack at all times for use in any class: • Backpack (No rolling backpacks…allowed please) • Pocket folder with loose leaf paper (can be used for homework folder) • Pack of lined loose leaf paper • Several blue or black ink pens (erasable is great) AND at least 2 red pens for correction • Pack of #2 pencils (mechanical is best) manual (non battery) pencil sharpener or lead for mechanical pencils • 2 -3 highlighters (different colors) more is fine • Colored pencils – sharpened and/or box of crayons • Glue sticks and scotch tape • Small, blunt-end scissors • Large pack of index cards (3x5 inch – plain, lined or colored) • Cap erasers or pack of large erasers • Hole reinforcements • 2 Pack Combination Lock (Homeroom and PE)
