  1. soar: v-to fly high in the sky We watched the eagles soar until they were just specks in the sky.

  4. Suspend: v- to hang while attached to something above. The swing is suspended from the porch.

  5. *suspend: v-to stop for a while before going on. The inspector suspended work on the building until the contractor obtained the proper permits.

  6. *suspend: v- to bar from working, attending, or taking a part of for a while. The students caught cheating were suspended from school for one week.

  7. Terminate: v- to bring or come to an end. Heavy rain terminated the tennis match after only ten minutes of play.

  8. Unwieldy: adj- hard to handle or control because of large size or heaviness The elephant was so unwieldy it took three zookeepers to get it into the truck.

  9. *yearn: v- to want very badly. Dorothy told the Wizard of Oz that she yearned to be back in Kansas.

  10. Yearning: n-a longing or strong desire As rain leaked slowly through the roof of our tent, I was filled with a yearning for my warm, dry bed at home.

  11. Accomplish: v- to complete successfully. I know I will accomplish these tasks by noon.

  12. Accomplishment: n- something requiring skill and/or determination completed successfully.. Helen Keller’s huge accomplishment was to learn how to read and speak.

  14. Experiment: v- to carry out experiments.* to try out new ideas or activities. Ex: Benjamin Franklin experimented with a kite to show that lightning was a form of electricity. *The chef experimented with a new recipe.

  15. Flimsy: adj- not strongly made; easily damaged or broken. The cart was too flimsy to carry such a heavy load.

  16. * Not believable Saying your dog ate your homework is a flimsy excuse for not turning in your homework.
