  • What do you think dreams mean? What are some of the advantages or disadvantages of dreams/dreaming? Perhaps they inspire, perhaps they’re unrealistic. Sometimes dreams can bring thoughts and fears into the forefront of our minds – things we wouldn’t normally have thought about. Do you think dreams have any connection to fate or destiny? How so?

Act 1 scene 4 (I.iv)Let’s break it down…

  • Based on your drawings is Queen Mab a queen of good dreams or bad dreams? What does Mercutio really think of dreams?

  • Mercutio isn’t the only one who speaks of dreams. Who else had a dream?

  • What does this person dream about? What is this character (and essentially the author) doing for us as an audience?

  • What do you think the role of dreams will play in Romeo and Juliet?

  • What connections can we find between dreams and fate? (*Hint: What is the role of the stars in this play from what we have read so far?)
