Learning Commons Usage Survey 2005 • 2 – one week surveys completed • November 13-19 (pre 24/5) • December 4-10 (after 24/5) • 3 – one week surveys planned • Spring 2006 • 61 areas/activities defined and counted • Counts took place every hour • Laptops and PDA’s included in 2005 W.E.B. Final Comments • Numbers are not always data- Integrity of the numbers and their robustness make the difference. • Importance of consistency of core categories if repeated surveys are expected to yield trend data. • Summary data for 2001 and all data for Fall 2005 are available at: http://www.library.umass.edu/assessment/index.html Some analysis is also available at that site. Both data and analysis will be updated as survey work continues. • The Library and the University Computing Center have been collaborating in serving student information needs since the decade of the 1980s.
