MnDOT-DEED HHCTWhat training do I get? • 10 days - Pre-Apprentice Highway Construction Laborer • Orientation to highway construction industry • OSHA-30 Federal Safety Certification • MnDOT Flagger Training • Wellness and conditioning • Power, pneumatic and hand tool use • Highway construction terminology • Applicable mathematics and formulae • Job search methods and resources

MnDOT-DEED HHCTWhat help do I get after training? • Employer outreach w/updated graduate profiles and contact information • Current job leads • Ongoing job search skills building, including targeted resume and interviewing assistance • Group and individual advisories • Case management - direct counsel/support • When you’re hired – limited financial support for job retention including work clothing, gas, tools, child care and food

MnDOT-DEED HHCTHow do I establish eligibility? • Female/minority • Independent vehicle ownership and insurance • Valid and current driver’s license • No current or completed apprenticeships • High school graduate/GED • E-mail and telephone • Achieve National Career Readiness Certification (Silver/level 4)

MnDOT-DEED HHCTNational Career Readiness Certification • Free of charge, available at most larger WFCs • Registration generates access to Keytrain – online mentoring/skills training program • 3 test parts – “Reading for Information”, “Locating Information”, “Applied Math” • NCRC exams total approximately 4 hours • You can achieve several skill levels: bronze, silver, gold or platinum certification • Certification applicable to multiple employers and industries

MnDOT-DEED HHCTHow do I apply? • Read the HHCT program brochure thoroughly • Read the application FAQ thoroughly • Take the NCRC test and achieve a Silver Certificate • Fill out the application carefully and completely • Send in the application by mail, e-mail, fax or give it to the WorkForce Center representative • Include your NCRC scores • Call the Coordinator with any questions

MnDOT-DEED HHCTWhat happens after I apply? • Application reviewed and screened • Successful applicants will be notified by e-mail and scheduled for an interview • Bring required documentation • Background and documentation check performed • Successful candidates will be notified by e-mail and scheduled for training
