NIMS STANDARDS • Adopt NIMS principles and policies • Manage all emergency incidents, exercises and pre-planned events using NIMS procedures, to include ICS, IAP and common communications plans • Coordinate and support emergency incident and event management through multi-agency coordination systems, i.e., hospital command center, IC posts, local 911 centers, EOCs, etc. • Implements processes and information through the JIS/JIC; appoints a PIO

NIMS STANDARDS • Hospitals and healthcare systems will track NIMS annually to improve overall capability • Develop and implement a system to coordinate hospital preparedness funding to employ NIMS across the organization • Revise and update plans, i.e., EOPs and SOPs to incorporate NIMS, to include planning, training, response, exercises, equipment, evaluation, and corrective actions

  4. NIMS STANDARDS • Participate in and promote interagency mutual-aid agreements, including public and private sector and nongovernmental organizations • Incorporate NIMS/ICS into interal and external local, regional and state EM training and exercises

  5. NIMS STANDARDS • Participate in an all-hazard exercise program based on NIMS that involves responders from multiple disciplines, agencies and organizations • Incorporate corrective actions into preparedness and response plans and procedures • Maintain an inventory of organization response assets • Ensure relevant national standards and guidance to achieve equipment, communication, and data interoperability are incorporated into acquisition programs

  6. NIMS STANDARDS • Apply standardized and consistent terminology, including the establishment of plain English communication standards across the public safety sector • Become familiar with state coordinated mutual aid through EMAC

  7. NIMS STANDARDS • Personnel Training: • Incident commander: IS-700 • Hospital EM program mgr: IS-800 • EM role (nearly all): IS-100 • Hospital middle management: IS-200

  8. NIMS TASKS • Implement NIMS in a phased approach • Track the program year-to-year to improve overall emergency management capability • Establish a working relationship to obtain and allocate preparedness funding and other grants • Hospitals will self-certify NIMS compliance
